Seit 1995 sendet im Landkreis Lörrach ein nichtkommerzielles Radio - das freie Radio Kanal Ratte. Ehrenamtliche RedakteurInnen gestalten täglich 24 Stunden Programm. Abwechslung und Vielfalt sind die konstanteste Göße des Senders. In den mehr als 15 Jahren, in denen der Kanal Ratte auf Sendung ist, haben ungezählte jüngere und ältere Menschen dort aktiv Radio gestaltet. Inhalte und Musikrichtungen wechseln mitunter überraschend von einer zur nächsten Sendung. Zum 1. Januar wurde der Sender in "Freies Radio Wiesental" umbenannt
