肇庆市广播电视台组建于2005年2月4日，是根据中共肇庆市委办公室、肇庆市人民政府办公室《关于印发<肇庆市广播电视台组建方案>的通知》（肇办发[2005]4号）精神，由原肇庆人民广播电台、肇庆电视台、肇庆有线电视网络中心、北岭广播电视微波中心站、肇庆市广播电视发展总公司等五个企事业单位组建而成，属正处级事业单位,主管部门是肇庆市委宣传部。
