Fresh 92.7

About Fresh 92.7

In 1997 3 mates returned from an interstate holiday with the idea of filling the niche of a youth and dance music based radio station in Adelaide. Feeling that Adelaide’s commercial stations weren’t responding to young people’s desire to hear electronic music, these friends wanted to create a station where all facets of youth culture were celebrated and supported. Cracking the Adelaide radio market was tough, but with the help of a team of young volunteers they managed to start transmitting in March 1998 on the 92.9 frequency that was shared with Radio Televisione Italia. Though the station was only able to broadcast after 4pm, Fresh listeners appreciated there was a station finally playing what they wanted to hear, and their loyalty to the station was rewarded when the Australian Broadcasting Authority granted the station a permanent license in 2002. With a new home in Adelaide’s East End, Fresh 92.7 are lucky to have its own state-of-the-art studio and offices, and a passionate and dedicate team of employees and volunteers who have worked together to make Fresh the most listened to community broadcaster in South Australia. Fresh 92.7 – putting the beat in young Adelaide’s heart.
